Investing for a not-for-profit organization should be the easiest job of TCI’s five client categories. The client is exempt from taxes, has a long investment time horizon and distributions are predictable.

The major issue for these not-for-profit investors is communication. The organization’s investment portfolio is almost always assigned to a committee primarily composed of volunteers. As with any group of volunteers, the committee members change, they have different levels of experience and they have different ideas about how things should be handled.
