Built on Trust
Financial markets were a scary place to be for the last six months or so.
The markets have been very volatile during the last six months. Through March 31st, the S&P 500 has declined by 16% since it reached its peak in October of last year. As you will recall, TCI has been reducing portfolio risk over the last couple of years because elevated stock market valuations and tight bond spreads left little room for acceptable returns. By early 2007, we had reduced overall risk to the minimum allowed by our investment policy. This was an excellent position to be in when the market began to decline.
